Katherine "Kitty" Pryde, also known as Shadowcat, is a mutant character appearing in Marvel Comics' X-Men titles.
Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, she first appeared in *Uncanny X-Men* #129 (January 1980).
Kitty possesses the mutant ability to "phase," allowing her to pass through solid matter. This ability disrupts electrical fields and allows her to travel through the air, although she cannot breathe while phased through an object. She also can disrupt electronic devices through phasing.
Throughout her history, she has been a prominent member of the X-Men, and has held other titles like the leader of the Marauders. Her phasing ability combined with her intelligence and combat skills make her a valuable asset to the team.
